The Story Behind the Sweatshirt
I feel at peace doing this type of work.
Those were the first words I said after today’s event — and I meant them.
My documentary Rich With Love was screened live during the BSU-UMD Social Justice Alliance workshop, and the energy in the room was unforgettable. So many people came up afterward, inspired, emotional, and connected to the story.
But what made today really different was seeing people wearing the sweatshirt I designed — the same title, Rich With Love. 100 sweatshirts.
The morning was hectic in the best way possible — I was literally packing boxes of merch, loading gear, setting up cameras and gimbals. But when I saw the reactions, every moment of effort felt worth it.
Dr. Rashawn Ray gave me a special shoutout during the inauguration, acknowledging my filmmaking and design work — and it honestly hit me hard. This is what storytelling can do.
