We share something in common. We share a whole day. 24 hours together. Today, we will receive many text messages, phone calls and love in general. We already received love from our friends and family in Australia. Thanks to the time difference. I miss being ahead of time. Those messages definitely brought a big smile to my face. Thank you to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday!! Very much appreciated. Now, let's go back to the early years of my life.
We been hooping since I was born man.
Don't you remember having basketball games on our day? We always made time for ball no matter. I think I was six years old in this pic. I was six yet playing for a 10 year old and under girls basketball team. I didn't play much in the games because I was way too small and not that good yet. But I guess I was decent enough to premiere in a few games for a few seconds. Remember, I scored my first two points on this team. South Bowie, were the days.
After that, I started to take basketball really seriously.
I went to Riverdale Baptist Basketball Camps. I went to Bishop McNamara Basketball Camps. I trained with Uncle Willie. I played for the DreamMakers, Beltway Lady Cougars, The Tigers, Lady Lions, so many teams! I played for Benjamin Tasker Middle School. Then, I decided to attend Bishop McNamara High School.
I finished my school career as the 2011 Washington Post Player of the Year.
2011 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year. My dad would remind me that I accomplished way more. But you get the point. After that, I went to Georgetown University on a full ride.
Georgetown is a great school but I ended up transferring to George Mason.
Remember that? All I could remember was people asking me, "Why did you leave Georgetown?" Over and over and over again. But I remember just embracing my new journey at Mason. I ended up having a hell of a career in just three years.
From buzzer beater to buzzer beater.
To breaking school records. To going to graduate school. To pursuing a career professionally.
Hands down, I would've never thought I would be a world traveler.
I'm impressed with what I've done internationally. The memories and experiences are something I will never take for granted.
But to be completely honest, this birthday is hard.
My first time not celebrating with you. Just seems weird. But I know you're wagging your tail in heaven with joy. Just wish I could hug you one more time before you left. Miss you, Cuddles.
Now, I'm 26 man.
Can you believe it? We made it 26. And this picture couldn't explain my vibration at this moment anymore. There's so much more in me that's ready to roar. I'm excited and ready to see what's in store. Happy Birthday to me. Lastly, Check out my documentary, Who is Taylor Brown 31? Who Is Taylor Brown 31? from Taylor Brown on Vimeo.
